May 26, 2023

Dear Parents and Friends of Clarion,

As we bring the month of May to an end we are reminded that as of Monday, May 29 we have 21 school days remaining in this academic year. It is important that our students continue to attend school and families support us by ensuring their children are attending school until the last day of school.

1. Clarion Canteen and Multi-purpose Hall –

Our new Multi-purpose Hall and canteen have been open since Wednesday, May 3 and have been very well received by our students and staff. These facilities have significantly enriched our program at Clarion School. To maintain the cleanliness and condition of the Multipurpose Hall, we kindly request that all students wear white sole runners or non-marking colored sole shoes. Shoes with colored soles that may cause scuff marks on the floor will not be allowed.

2. Sustainability Award

We are proud to announce that Clarion school has been awarded the Eco-Schools Bronze Award from the Foundation of Environmental Education and the Environmental Center for Arab Towns. This prestigious award recognizes our unwavering commitment to sustainability and our diligent efforts to create a more environmentally friendly school. Thank you to our staff and students for their efforts. Special thank you to our Sustainability Lead, Ms. Roisin and our wonderful Clarion parents, Ms. Geovanni and Ms. Nina for their leadership with these projects.

3. 2023-2024 Staffing –

Our staffing for the upcoming school year is nearly finalized, with approximately 90% of the positions filled at this time. We expect to complete the staffing process within the next few weeks. As part of our effort to introduce the new staff members to the school community, we will be sharing video introductions of a few staff each week. This week, we are delighted to feature the following new staff members:

  1. Alison Matthew: Alison will be serving as the homeroom teacher for Grade 3.
  2. Jordan Cooper: Jordan will be teaching English to students in Grade 5, Grade 6 and Grade 7.

4. Peter Pan Production –

Join us for an enchanting adventure as Clarion School proudly presents a captivating Peter Pan theatre production! The performance is scheduled to take place at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, June 20, and will be held in our state-of-the-art Multi-purpose Hall, a brand new addition to our school facilities.

To ensure that we can accommodate all attendees comfortably, we kindly request parents to RSVP for the event. Your response will assist us in making appropriate seating arrangements for everyone in attendance.

We are eagerly looking forward to this enchanting production of Peter Pan, which promises to be a memorable event for our students, parents, and the entire school community. Save the date and join us for an evening of wonderful performances and magical moments!

5. Student Re-registration for 2023-24 School Year –

We would like to thank all families for completing the re-enrollment process and paying the seat deposit to secure their child’s place for the upcoming academic year. Please note that this deposit will be fully deducted from your child’s tuition fees in September 2023.

As we have initiated the class list allocation process, we kindly request parents who have not yet re-enrolled their child to promptly secure their place by submitting the re- enrollment deposit.

For any queries regarding the payment process, please contact our Finance Manager, Mr. Jafar at accounts@clarionschool.com.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to another successful year at Clarion School.

6. MAP Testing –

MAP testing has started this week and will continue next week. Our students are taking the assessments very seriously. We are proud of their efforts and we anticipate some very positive results.

At Clarion, we place great value on giving each student an equal opportunity to showcase their abilities, and we remain dedicated to their overall success. We appreciate the efforts our students are putting into their MAP testing, and we are confident that their hard work will yield impressive outcomes.

7. Student Attendance and Late Reminders –

We have received several requests from parents seeking an early start to the Summer holiday. We kindly request that parents ensure their children attend school until the last scheduled day. It is important to note that students who are absent will miss valuable learning opportunities, and their absence can adversely affect our overall student attendance record.

According to the guidelines set by KHDA, student absences due to holiday travel are not considered excused absences. We strongly encourage all families to adhere to the prescribed school calendar.

Furthermore, please be aware that any extended student leaves exceeding 3 days require the submission of a request form. You can obtain the form from our Atrium area or by contacting us via email at admin@clarionschool.com.

Please notify Poonam at pkadam@clarionschool.com if your child is absent due to illness or a medical appointment.

8. Clarion Recycling Center –

The Dubai Municipality has requested the relocation of our recycling center to a more accessible area near the 'Kiss and Drop' zone. We are currently collaborating with them to ensure that the center is moved to a suitable location.

We will keep our Clarion community informed about the new location of the recycling center as soon as it is confirmed.

9. Clarion Sports –

Congratulations to the Under 13 Boys Basketball team for showcasing their skills on the brand new Basketball court at Clarion versus JBS during their DASSA game.

Next Week –

Monday, May 29 - DASSA: Under 9 Girls Basketball Team is playing at JBS.

10. Student Field Trips -

Field trips are an important aspect of the educational program at Clarion. Just a friendly reminder that field trips are not meant to be optional and that students are asked to participate unless they are home ill on the day of the trip.

Next week, we have the following Field Trip -

May 31 - Old Dubai Souk by the creek - Grade 2 B

I wish everyone a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing you on Monday, May 29!

Sincerely,

Larry
