Clarion Newsletter, June 2, 2023

June 2, 2023

Dear Parents and Friends of Clarion,

As we move into the month of June, we are reminded that as of Monday, June 5 we have 16 school days remaining in this academic year. It is important that our students continue to attend school and families support us by ensuring their children are attending school until the last day of school.

1. Clarion Canteen and Multi-purpose Hall –

Just a friendly reminder that to maintain the cleanliness and condition of the Multipurpose Hall, we kindly request that all students wear white sole runners or non- marking colored sole shoes. Shoes with colored soles that may cause scuff marks on the floor will not be allowed.

2. PIRLS Result 2022-2023 –

We are delighted to share the incredible news of our Grade 4 students' outstanding achievements in the PIRLS 2021 (Progress in International Reading Literacy Study). Their remarkable results have surpassed the average performance of both Dubai Private Schools and US curriculum Schools in Dubai.

Their exceptional performance on this international benchmark is a testament to their dedication and hard work. We couldn't be prouder of our students' accomplishments in the field of reading literacy.

More details are shared below, in the newsletter.

3. Student Re-registration for 2023-24 School Year –

We would like to thank all families for completing the re-enrollment process and paying the seat deposit to secure their child’s place for the upcoming academic year. Please note that this deposit will be fully deducted from your child’s tuition fees in September 2023.

As we have initiated the class list allocation process, we kindly request parents who have not yet re-enrolled their child to promptly secure their place by submitting the re- enrollment deposit.

Parents who have not completed this process as of today, Friday, June 2 will have their children moved to our waiting list for enrollment next school year. Please ensure you secure your child’s seat for next year by paying the seat deposit.

For any queries regarding the payment process, please contact our Finance Manager, Mr. Jafar at accounts@clarionschool.com

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to another successful year at Clarion School.

4. 2023-2024 Staffing –

Our staffing for the upcoming school year is nearly finalized, with approximately 95% positions filled at this time. We expect to complete the staffing process by the end of next week. As part of our effort to introduce the new staff members to the school community, we will be sharing video introductions of a few staff each week. This week, we are delighted to feature the following new staff members -

  1. Patrick Mullarkey: Patrick will be serving as the homeroom teacher for Grade 4.
  2. Natalie Duperme: Natalie will be teaching Arts to our students.

5. Curriculum Guides 2023- 2024 –

Curriculum Guides for parents will be available on June 20, 2023, through the newsletter and the Clarion website.

These guides have been thoughtfully designed to provide families with valuable insights into the curriculum, offering a detailed overview for each grade level throughout the academic year.

6. Peter Pan Production –

Join us for an enchanting adventure as Clarion School proudly presents a captivating Peter Pan theatre production! The performance is scheduled to take place at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, June 20, and will be held in our state-of-the-art Multi-purpose Hall, a brand new addition to our school facilities.

To ensure that we can accommodate all attendees comfortably, we kindly request parents to RSVP for the event. Your response will assist us in making appropriate seating arrangements for everyone in attendance. Additionally, we would like to remind parents to wear suitable footwear, such as flat sole shoes (no spiked or heel shoes), while in the Multi-purpose Hall.

7. MAP Testing –

The MAP testing for this week has successfully concluded. In the event that a student was unable to participate in the initial testing session, a make-up session will be organized to ensure their assessment is completed. Moreover, if a student feels they were unable to perform to their fullest potential during the initial test, they will be offered the opportunity to take a retest. The retest sessions will be scheduled for next week to allow students to demonstrate their true abilities.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in providing every student with a fair and accurate assessment experience.

8. Student Attendance and Late Reminders –

We have received several requests from parents seeking an early start to the Summer holiday. We kindly request that parents ensure their children attend school until the last scheduled day. It is important to note that students who are absent will miss valuable learning opportunities, and their absence can adversely affect our overall student attendance record.

According to the guidelines set by KHDA, student absences due to holiday travel are not considered excused absences. We strongly encourage all families to adhere to the prescribed school calendar.

Furthermore, please be aware that any extended student leaves exceeding 3 days require the submission of a request form. You can obtain the form from our Atrium area or by contacting us via email at admin@clarionschool.com.

Please notify Poonam at pkadam@clarionschool.com if your child is absent due to illness or a medical appointment.

9. Clarion Sports –
