Sustainability practices Clarion School
Clarion School in Dubai stands at the forefront of instilling sustainable habits and spearheading innovative change to make a positive impact on our community, in harmony with the principles of American curriculum education.

In recent years, the integration of sustainability into both learning and operational practices has become integral to Clarion School's commitment to excellence, positioning it among the best American curriculum schools in Dubai. Emphasizing sustainability aligns with the principles set by the United Nations, recognizing the interconnected dimensions of our world and emphasizing that a positive future hinges on daily decisions. Clarion School's sustainability approach involves fostering critical awareness among students, viewing them as consumers, community members, and advocates for a positive future. This approach addresses the urgent need to equip students for active participation in a rapidly changing global landscape.

Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (Global Goals) established by the United Nations in 2016, Clarion School's sustainability statement directs efforts towards community education, environmental impact mitigation, and engaging students in authentic learning experiences both on and beyond the campus. As a recognized best international school in Dubai, Clarion is dedicated to shaping responsible and environmentally conscious global citizens who contribute positively to the world.

In addition to its commitment to sustainability, Clarion School integrates innovative practices such as Bokashi composting. Bokashi, a Japanese method, involves fermenting organic waste using effective microorganisms, resulting in a nutrient-rich compost that enhances soil fertility. By incorporating Bokashi composting into its sustainability initiatives, Clarion School further demonstrates its dedication to holistic environmental stewardship.
Within the landscape of American schools in Dubai, Clarion School stands out as a beacon of excellence, showcasing its commitment to both sustainability and academic distinction. Clarion is not just a school; it's a close-knit community that shares a commitment to environmental stewardship. The school's remarkable atmosphere allows for collaboration, and we are fortunate to have a network of parents who actively support and share their knowledge. Together, we explore ways to make lasting changes in our environmental impact. It's inspiring to witness how our collective efforts empower the next generation to understand and appreciate the importance of preserving our planet. In this nurturing environment, young learners not only know better but are also encouraged to do better, laying the groundwork for a sustainable and eco-conscious future.

Roots and Shoots Award for Clarion School with Jane Goodall

Reflecting on the Roots & Shoots Awards by Mariam – Eco-Heroes President

Hi, my name is Mariam, and I am delighted to share a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with the Clarion and Roots & Shoots Community.
The Roots & Shoots Awards ceremony at Expo City was an amazing and innovative event, but the most exciting part was meeting the smart, wise, and kind Dr Jane Goodall herself.
Growing Sunflowers at Clarion School Dubai

Growing Sunflowers

By Issac
In Clarion Diggers we decided to have a sunflower competition to see which one would grow the tallest.
In October we all planted a sunflower seed in a small pot. We wrote our names on our pot.
We watered the plant. Unfortunately, some of them died over the Winter holidays because they weren’t watered. I took mine home and found a good place for it.
Amending the soil in our planter boxes at Clarion School

Amending the Soil in our Planter Boxes

By Ellie
During my CCI (co-curricular activity) this autumn I amended the soil in the planter boxes in the Clarion community garden with Ms. Nina and my classmates because we wanted our plants to be healthy.
We learned that when you amend old soil you add worm poo, cow poo, compost and organic fertilizers to make the soil richer. Amending the soil is important when growing food because it gives the plants extra nutrients, so the plants are healthier, and that makes the food they produce healthier for people to eat.
Composting chaos and joy by Clarion School

Composting Chaos and Joy

By Clarion School
Isn’t composting meant to be serious (and smelly) business? Something best avoided and left to quirky garden people? This week, while filling the school tumbler, the Clarion Diggers proved that composting can be anything but these things.
(Well ok, perhaps a bit smelly.)
From the joy of piling up dried leaves into buckets and discovering new techniques for pouring them into the tumbler, to the challenge of balancing mounds of squishy fermented food waste on the end of a shovel, preparing our latest batch of compost was a fun-filled way to spend an afternoon.
