Dear Parents and Friends of Clarion,
I would like to thank our parents for all the support we have received at the start of this school year. We have experienced a very positive start, and the students are sincerely happy.
Here are some important updates and reminders:
1. CPC General Meeting/Parent Coffee Morning:
The first Clarion Parent Committee (CPC) general meeting will take place on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 8:15 am. The current CPC board will review last year's activities and initiatives. All Clarion parents are welcome and encouraged to attend this meeting. Nominations for this year's board will be requested in this meeting.
2. Parent/Guardian ID Reminder:
By this time, I believe that all parents, both new and returning, should have received their parent ID cards. This is a friendly reminder that parents are required to wear or present their parent Clarion ID card whenever they enter the school premises. Please understand that this policy is in place to ensure the safety and security of your children.
Parent ID cards have been distributed to new parents and those who needed replacements this week. If you have not received your ID card, we kindly ask that you contact Poonam in our Atrium to request one. If both parents are required to pick up or drop off the child, then both parents will need to wear and present their parent Clarion ID card.
The health and safety of our students remain our topmost priority, and your continued support in adhering to these measures will contribute to building a safer school community.
3. Emirati National Anthem:
As a sign of respect, we request that our parents and guardians stand at attention when the National Anthem is played in the morning.
4. Student Absence and Lates:
We appreciate your efforts in improving our student attendance. Last year, our attendance percentage increased from 88% in October to 96% by the end of the academic year, thanks to our parents' dedication.
If your child is absent due to illness, please inform their homeroom teacher with a copy to Poonam at admin@clarionschool.com and the school Nurse at kballares@clarionschool.com.
Students arriving late (after 8:00 am) should obtain a late pass from the Atrium before entering class.
5. Student Recess:
We closely monitor the outside temperature to determine if recess will be held indoors or outdoors. Please apply sunscreen to your child before sending them to school and provide them with a hat and a refillable water bottle for hydration and sun protection.
6. Teacher-Led Activities (CCIs):
Please note the CCI's (internal) will begin on Monday, September 18, 2023. Please remember to pick up your child at 4:00 pm from the street or from the allocated classrooms for the Early Years CCI's.
Contact Narsisa at nchamelo@clarionschool.com for more information.
Our school is also a member of DASSA, which is the largest and longest-running school sports association in the UAE, in addition to the Dubai School Games League. This platform will provide our students with fantastic opportunities to participate in competitive sports. Additional information about these opportunities will be shared shortly.
7. Student Dismissal and Pickup:
We ask our parents to pick up their children promptly at the end of the school day, ideally by 3:15 pm. If your child is in a CCI or CCE activity, please pick them up at 4:00 pm, at the end of the activity. Please exercise caution in the parking lot and drop-off areas.
8. Student Benchmark and Standardized Assessments:
We will be conducting standardized and benchmark assessments. MAP assessments for students in Grades 3 – 7 have already occurred this week, with retests for some students starting on Monday, September 18, 2023. External Arabic and Islamic standardized assessments will take place the week of October 2, 2023.
9. Curriculum Night:
This event provides parents with an opportunity to learn about our curriculum and plans for student assessments this year. Parents can also visit their child's homeroom teacher to learn about the specific grade-level program. Please note the following dates:
Early Years (PreK – K2): Monday, October 2, 2023
Grades 1 – 7: Tuesday, October 3, 2023
