The Art of Igniting Curiosity

Dear Parents and Friends of Clarion,

As we enter the second week of October we are finally experiencing weather that makes our lives in Dubai much more pleasant. Our students are now having their recess times outdoors which is much better for them.

Here are some important updates and reminders:

1. Student Progress Reports:

Our first student progress report for this school year was distributed on Friday, October 6.

2. Parent Teacher Conference:

Our first parent teacher conference will be held on Wednesday, October 11. The sign- up link has been shared with our parents. Please contact Rushna at rpatel@clarionschool.com if you are having technical issues with the sign up link.

Since interviews are scheduled from 8 AM to 5 PM, there will be no school for students on this day.

3. Mid-Term Break:

The mid-term break for our students is scheduled for Monday, October 16, and Tuesday, October 17. On these days, students will not have school. Students must resume school on Wednesday, October 18.

4. ABT and ISBT Assessments:

The Arabic language (ABT) and Islamic Studies (ISBT) benchmark assessments that were previously scheduled for October 2 – 5 have been moved to November. The date will be shared once we have it confirmed.

5. Student Assemblies:

6. McGrudy’s Book Fair:

McGrudy's Book Fair is set to take place from Monday, October 23, to Wednesday, October 25. Further details will be shared as the event date draws closer.

7. Mock School Inspection:

In preparation for this year's KHDA inspection, we conducted a mock inspection from Monday, September 25, to Wednesday, September 27. We can confirm that our current status has significantly improved compared to last year's inspection. We have provided the teachers with a few key priorities to focus on, based on feedback from our mock inspectors. Although we do not yet know when the actual KHDA inspection will take place, we are preparing for the possibility of it occurring during the week of October 23 or later.

8. UAE National Anthem:

Just a friendly reminder that all parents, visitors, students, and staff are required to stand at attention in school when the UAE national anthem is played at 8:00 AM each morning.

9. Student Absence and Lates:

To date, our student attendance remains positive; however, we need to work together to ensure that our students arrive on time to minimize any loss of instructional time. We kindly request parents' support in this regard.

For students who are absent due to illness, please inform their homeroom teacher with a copy to Poonam at admin@clarionschool.com and the school nurse at kballares@clarionschool.com.

Students arriving late (after 8:00 AM) should obtain a late pass from the Atrium before entering class.

10. Sun Protection:

Please ensure that you apply sunscreen to your child before sending them to school.

Additionally, make sure your child brings a refillable water bottle and a hat to school to ensure they stay hydrated and protected from the sun throughout the day.

11. Teacher Led Activities (CCIs) and External Vendor Led Activities (CCEs):

Our after-school activities have commenced. We kindly request that parents pick up their children at 4:00 PM on the days they have after-school activities and at 3:00 PM on the days they are not participating in any after-school activities.

Our school is also a member of DASSA, which is the largest and longest-running school sports association in the UAE, in addition to the Dubai School Games League. This platform will provide our students with fantastic opportunities to participate in competitive sports. Additional information about these opportunities will be shared shortly.

12. Curriculum Night:

Our curriculum night took place this week, and we hope the information shared was valuable to the parents who attended. We are committed to offering such opportunities to keep our parents informed about the exceptional and unique academic program that Clarion School provides.

13. Sports News:

Well done to the Under 11/12 Boys Football Team for their first match at Clarion last Tuesday, October 3.

Next Week - DASSA Under 11/12 Boys Football v Dubai Scholars at Clarion School on October 10.

In closing, I would like to sincerely thank our parents for their continued support, and I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday, October 9.

Sincerely,

Larry
