The Art of Igniting Curiosity

Dear Parents and Friends of Clarion,

As we bring our second week to a close, it is wonderful to see our lives returning to a post- Covid stage. Many of the events and activities that were not permitted during the pandemic stage are returning.

1. Facility:

We are excited to share that a major component of the Makerspace area construction will occur this weekend. We are expecting the steel shell for the front façade to be erected. To accomodate this work, we will have to remove the shade structrures in the front courtyard area for one week. This is necessary to accomodate the crane that must be used to install the steel shell. Our hope is that the shade structures are re-installed within a week to ten days.

2. CPC “Meet and Greet”:

We would like to thank Priyanka, Burcin, Dida, Pooja and other members of the CPC who were present for organizing and presenting at our most recent CPC “Meet and Greet”. We had over 70 parents in attendance at this event. This is a tremendous confirmation of the parents' commitment to the school. The energy in the room was incredible and some wonderful conversations occurred. Additional information concerning the upcoming CPC events is available in this newsletter.

3. Photo Consent Form:

Parents are asked to identify their preference by completing the photo consent form. The final day for submission is Monday, September 12. We will not display or post your childrens image without consent. The link for the form is: Parent Consent Form

4. Parents Clarion ID Card:

Parents are required to wear or present their parent Clarion ID card anytime they enter the school. The vast majority of parents are assisting us with this. Please understand that this is for reasons of safeguarding your children.

New parents who have not yet received their parent IDs, or returning parents who may have misplaced their old IDs, may kindly connect with Hemi at admin@clarionschool.com with their updated passport size pictures to have one issued at the earliest.

5. COVID Protocols:

New parents are requested to share their COVID vaccination copies with Nurse Kristine and may send it via email to kballares@clarionschool.com, if not done so already.

The wearing of masks is mandated for students Grade 1 and above and all parents, staff and visitors when indoors.

6. Changes in Bus Timings:

Given the beginning of CCI’s and CCE’s is on Monday, September 12, there may be some bus timing changes as fewer students will be riding buses after school on certain days. Hemi and Ronnie will be sending out information to affected bus parents concerning their days.

7. Student Absence and Lates:

Students who are absent due to illnesses are requested to inform their homeroom teacher, with an email CC to Hemi at admin@clarionschool.com and the school Nurse at kballares@clarionschool.com.

Students who arrive late to school will be required to obtain a late pass from Hemi, our Front Office Executive/Admissions Assistant, before entering class.

8. Sun Protection and Hydration:

Please remember to apply sunscreen on your child prior to sending them to school. Do send a refillable water bottle and a hat with your child so that we can assure they remain hydrated and protected from the sun throughout the day.

9. Extra Curriculural Activities:

Both external (CCE’s) and internal (CCI’s) extra-curricular activities will commence on Monday, September 12. CCI’s (teacher-led activity) will be offered on Monday and Wednesdays and CCE’s will be offered Monday to Friday.

Feel free to connect with Hemi at admin@clarionschool.com if you require additional information or have questions.

10. Pokemon Cards Club:

We appreciate the support of our parents in ensuring our students are not bringing Pokemon cards to school. As previously mentioned, the cards had become a significant distraction to our academic program.

We are looking to offer a Pokemon Club after school on Wednesdays. We are searching for some parents to assist us with this and will provide more information on the club once we have this organized. Please connect with Hemi at admin@clarionschool.com if you can assist us with this club. We are hoping to find a few parents who can support us on a consistent basis with the club.

11. Clarion Curriculum Information Sessions:

We are pleased to share that we will be offering curriculum information session for our parents. The dates and times are as follows:

We have received a number of requests from parents who are unable to attend the sessions. As such, we will record the general session and have teachers share a document with their specific presentations.

12. Fire Drill:

Our school successfully completed our first fire drill for the school year and I am very proud of our students and staff. We evacuated the building in 3 minutes and 30 seconds in a safe and orderly fashion.

13. Measures of Academic Progess (MAP) Assessments (beginning next week):

This is a wonderful tool to assist us in benchmarking student attainment and an effective way to track student progress. Additional information specific to this will be shared very soon.

Clarion school truly is a very special place! I wish everyone a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing you on Monday morning!

Sincerely,

Larry
