December 20, 2021

Happy Thursday Clarion Parents and Friends,

National Day at Clarion School: Will be on Monday, November 29th 2021:

ATTENTION!! We are rescheduling National Day at Clarion School for the 29th of November. So much is going on that we overlooked the two EXPO trips on the 30th for several sections of students in our EC program. We don’t want to leave them out on the day we celebrate at school, so we will do our National Day celebration on the 29th.

Field Trips:

A flurry of notes about the EXPO field trips is coming home to you all. One note is required by EXPO as a disclaimer for film and photos. We have made it easier by putting all four trip dates for your child on the required EXPO note - please sign it and send it back to your homeroom teacher.

And as always, each individual trip will have a CLAIRON SCHOOL note coming home with the specific information relevant to that individual note- just as we do for all field trips. These are done for each trip so that you are 100% clear as to the date, time, trip location, chaperones, food and drink and other details. Thank you for understanding that we try to keep you well informed about trips and also expect that we need your explicit signed approval in order to take your child(ren) off the campus for any trip!

Please find the link below which will give you a better understanding of what to expect from your EXPO school trips.

Fruit and Veggie Dress Up postponed from November 24th until January 2022:

One request from parents has been to give advance notice of dress up/down days- especially those events that might require costumes of some type. Our “Fruit and Veggie” dress up day we had said was the 24th is now postponed until “Health Week” in January, 2022.

This give parents time to make costumes out of recycled materials - we really want to push push PUSH the reuse/recycle aspect of our dress up/dress down days. Last year I was a red-hot chili pepper. Wonder what I can do this coming January!?

For the Dress up/down, on November 29th for UAE National Day at Clarion, please try to have your child wear all four colors of the UAE flag- red, white green and black. There are so many ways to do so, and creativity is appreciated! You may also wear traditional UAE clothing to celebrate the day. I have my outfit- let’s see yours!

And….on the December 9th, as that is the last (and only!) Thursday in December, we will have a dress up/down day for the festive colors of the December holidays. For many people this is green-red-white, and red hats, and red noses and deer antlers etc.! But many of us come from other traditions so let us see YOUR holiday spirit on the 9th!

Winter Show:

Parent Volunteers to help prep for the show are needed. Please contact Ms. Srei, our Art teacher srea@clarionschool.com

If you are willing to give some time to cutting, pasting and painting as we get ready for the Winter Show on December 7:

We will run the show in three parts:

Pre K, K1 and K2 at 8:30 AM

Grades 1 and 2 at 10:30 AM

Grades 3, 4 and 5 at 12:30 PM

This permits us to follow KHDA protocols for health and safety with you as our audience. We need to space out the chairs and seating in the courtyard for the shows. Thanks for understanding!

Cashless Payment at the Parent Cafe:

Please see the note later in the newsletter - Ms. Heerral has this all outlined for you. All part of our push to be cashless and efficient in how we run the Clarion Parent Café!

2nd half of the year CCI activities:

Parents- we would love some of you to be involved in running CCI’s – Clarion after school activities- on Mondays and Wednesdays. One parent has already asked to run a Crafts and Crocheting activity, with the goal to increase manual dexterity and artistic appreciation. Please explore ideas with us and we can always use dedicated parents to be involved with our activities, and you can even be a support person for a teacher led activity- as long as you can commit to being there every week. Contact Ms. Shazia admin@clarionschool.com for more information or to volunteer or to propose an activity you are willing and able to run as we start the sessions by the end of January 2022.

Food Collection Challenge:

A few of you have contributed, and I thank you for this. However, we can do better. I’m hitting the supermarket today after school for several box loads of canned goods, bags of rice, cooking oils, and other foods for those in need to bring in Sunday. Clarion should and can do more and I would like to challenge you all to show up at least one day next week with a dozen or 2 dozen or 3 dozen items.

Make it hard for us to stack it all up. Show us the care this community is capable of.

Let’s make the effort- take your children shopping to get food for people who have less. Thank you.

Clarion Commons: Upcoming events:

  1. Ms. Burcin one of our CPC co-chairpersons will present to Grades 4, 5 and 6 on Sunday, November 21st regarding nutrition and how to read the labels for all the things we eat!
  2. Marhaba! The Arabic Team and Ms. Nada are excited to host the Fourth Clarion Commons of the year entitled ‘Arabic Language @ Clarion’. This commons will encompass a 15-20 minute presentation from the team on Arabic Studies for Natives and Non-natives and an opportunity for you to get into the classroom to discover the exciting approach and hands-on learning happening in Arabic. Please join us on November 23, 2021 at 5:00 PM in the Atrium.
