Dear Clarion Parents and Friends of Clarion,
This last week in the run up to Spring Break has been exciting and filled with energy. Having parents once again participate in the life of the school has been invigorating – and your presence was felt in the culminations and the sports days this week.
Culmination #2: I was so impressed with the culmination projects that I witnessed and I have seen videos of others. The teachers, assistants, and students are to be commended for their efforts! I am sure that you as parents enjoyed your time in the classrooms to witness the culminations, and we look forward to more of the same in June for the final culminations of the year.
Sports Day: Thank you so much to the PE team of Mr. Antonis, Ms. Angelica, and Ms. Narsisa for their wonderful organization of the day. They had an enormous amount of help- including Alwyn and Rasool setting up and running the music, and all the teachers and assistants. I have been enjoying the videos of you parents participating as well- your faces show your mix of excitement and intensity each morning!
Spring Break: We return from Spring Break on Monday, April 11th, with the gates opening at 8:00 AM and classes starting at 8:30. Please begin arrival to be in class promptly at 8:00 AM so academic time is not compromised.
Ramadan: A specific Ramadan email will go out to parents in the 2nd week of Spring Break. In it we will address many aspects of how Ramadan is treated with respect and dignity by our community while also continuing to provide a rich and rewarding school experience to all the students.
Thank you to the many parents who replied to our survey about Ramadan timings. KHDA asked that we survey you, same as last year, and just like last year you overwhelmingly selected the school hours of 8:30 to 1:30 for student timings.
Staff will work from 8:00 AM to 2 PM Monday to Thursday, and Fridays we will have the same day as we have had since January, with a 12:00 noon dismissal.
We will support students who are fasting with a “Ramadan relax room” for the morning and lunch snack breaks, and more on this will be provided in the specific Ramadan email.
Swiss Canonica will serve meals according to the adjusted Ramadan time table Monday to Thursday.
Food Drive for Ramadan: We will collect canned food and other items when we return from Spring Break for a Ramadan food drive. There are great savings at the supermarkets right now especially for the ‘staples’ and we will send a list of those for you to focus on for the month of April.
Reenrollment: You have received the forms and so many of you have replied and our reenrollment looks fantastic so far. Thank you to those who did it already, and thank you in advance to the rest of you for getting to this item of ‘business’ as soon as you can.
Final Word: For those of you who travel in country or out, please be safe in all you do. Enjoy family, friends, new places, different things.
For those of you in Dubai, stay safe and enjoy our last days of relatively mild weather!
Find time to read with your children; read around them. It is fine to read side by side or in the same room. Get off your devices, and flip pages made of paper not pixels. Dig in the sand together, grow in the garden, visit a museum, watch the stars. Enjoy yourselves and see you on the 11th at 8:30 AM!
