April 28, 2023

Dear Parents and Friends of Clarion,

It is hard to believe that we are ending April and starting the month of May. The school year has appeared to have rushed by and as of Monday, May 1, we have 41 school days remaining in this school year.

1. Clarion Continuous Improvement Plan Meetings –

We would like to thank our parents for attending the Clarion Continuous Improvement Plan meetings. We received some wonderful comments and feedback from these sessions. In addition, we have met with parents after the meetings for clarification or to address specific questions. As well, one of our owners, Mr. Kumar Verma attended a meeting with parents on Wednesday, April 19 to share his vision for the school and address parent questions.

2. Clarion Recycling Centre –

Our school has received its new recycling center, which is conveniently located at the end of the main parking lot. We strongly encourage our families and staff to recycle their plastic, paper, and metal cans and for our entire community to take advantage of this facility.

We are committed to making a positive impact on our planet, and we believe that every little effort counts. Therefore, we kindly request that all members of our school community contribute to this cause by using the new recycling center.

Let us work together to make our school a more eco-friendly and sustainable place!

3. Book Fair –

Our book fair was held from April 25 – 27. We would like to thank our parents, students and staff for attending this wonderful event. A special thank you to Magrudy’s bookstore for their participation in this event.

4. Clarion Canteen and Multi-purpose Hall –

We are very excited to share with you that our multipurpose hall will be ready for use by our PE classes starting Monday, May 8. Our current gym will be able to serve as a canteen for our Grade 3 – 7 students starting next week. Students in Grades 3 – 7 will eat lunch in the canteen which will have canteen style seating. We will also have supervised microwave stations for those who wish to bring food from home to be heated. Please ensure the food is in a microwavable container. Additional information will be shared with Grade 3 – 7 parents on Monday.

5. Student Reregistration for 2023-24 School Year

The re-enrollment intent survey forms will be shared with parents on Monday, May 1.

6. Student Attendance and Lates –

  1. KHDA will be assessing our student attendance for Term 3 when they return for their inspection in October of next year. Please ensure your children are attending school and arriving punctually. We need to ensure our Term 3 attendance is at least 95%.
  2. Term 3 is a short term with only 41 school days remaining before the last day of school on June 26. Students will be writing the final MAP assessments in late May so every school day is critical to ensure our students are best prepared.
  3. Please notify Poonam at pkadam@clarionschool.com if your child is absent due to illness or a medical appointment.
  4. Please obtain a late slip from the Atrium prior to going to class if your child arrives after 8:00 am.

Attendance Facts –

  • Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school, or about 18 school days, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence.

Student absence for the reason of holiday travel is not considered an excused absence as per KHDA guidelines.

Please note that all extended student leaves in excess of 3 days require the submission of a request form. The form is available from our Atrium area or email: admin@clarionschool.com.

7. Sibling Enrollment at Clarion –

If you have a sibling in your family who you are planning to enroll in September 2023, please reach out to Emily from our admissions team at admissions@clarionschool.com.

I sincerely wish everyone an enjoyable weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday, May 1, 2023.

Sincerely,

Larry
