Dear Clarion Parents,
I hope everyone has had a wonderful week. As we bring the month of May to a close, we find ourselves entering the last month of school for this school year.
As of Monday, June 3, we are reminded that we only have 18 school days remaining, so it is critical that our students attend school and arrive by 8 AM.
With the current KHDA rating, we are pleased to announce that the school will introduce our Grade 8 program next year. Our long-term plan is to grow organically, adding an additional grade each year. These are very exciting times at Clarion School.
Our students will be taking their year-end external assessments during this month. Some exams had to be rescheduled due to technical issues with the iReady assessments. I want to assure parents and students that the data for those who have already completed the iReady assessments has not been lost. The revised external assessment schedule was sent to parents on Wednesday, May 29.
We would like to thank Mr. Antonis, supported by our class assistants, for hosting an internal swim gala this week for students in grades 2-4. The students had a wonderful time, and it provided an opportunity for those who do not swim competitively to experience a swim gala in a fun environment.
We would also like to thank our parent, Ms. Eugeniya, for hosting a parent/student yoga activity on Friday, May 24, and our staff, Ms. Dina and Ms. Yasmin, for the well- being activities on Friday, May 31.
As the temperature continues to rise, we will be shifting to an indoor lunch recess effective Monday, June 3. We have scheduled students in the Multipurpose Hall on a rotational basis during this time. The Early Years students will have access to the small gym during their lunch recess on a rotational basis.
As the school year draws to a close, we kindly remind our parents that while we appreciate your input, we are unable to accommodate specific teacher requests for the upcoming academic year. Teacher placements will be determined collaboratively, taking into account input from your child's current teacher and the phase head. We value your feedback and encourage you to provide your child’s current teacher with specific information that they believe should be considered as part of this process.
The 2024-2025 school year will begin on Monday, August 26, for students in K2 to Grade 8. Our PreK and K1 students will return to school on Monday, September 2, to provide time for home visits.
I look forward to seeing everyone on a bright and sunny Monday, June 3.
Sincerely,
Larry
